The Opportunity The Assistant Fund Accountant reports to VP and provides fund administration services to a portfolio of funds, mainly hedge funds. Primary responsibilities include rkAssisting the Fund Accountant (FA), Senior Fund Accountant (SFA), AVP, VP or SVP with the setting up of new funds and on-going matters in a timely manne r;Assisting the FA, SFA, AVP, VP or SVP with the obtaining of necessary compliance information for approva l;Assisting the FA, SFA, AVP, VP or SVP to ensure the proprietary database is completed with accurate data by the take-on point of the clien t;Updating the database as relevant events occur (change in directors, change in service providers );Assisting the FA, SFA, AVP, VP or SVP with transactional accounting and preparing low complexity NAV packages in accordance with MaplesFS policies and procedure s;Assisting in a large volume of routine and straight forward transactions including data input of standard journal entries in the accounting syst emAcquire and develop a mastery of the systems used for client and internal reportin g.Liaise with auditors and coordinate with clients to ensure the smooth completion of the year-end audi t.Coordinate with various teams within the Maples organization to ensure client queries and deliverables are completed in a timely manne r.Acquire an understanding and application of The Maples Group’s relevant organizational controls and operational procedure s.Assisting with raising and sending invoices to clients in a timely manner and in accordance with administration agreemen Training and Development ntDemonstrating a commitment to acquiring new capabilities, constantly striving to improve performanc e;Proactively seeking out and taking advantage of training and development opportunitie s;Developing a continuous learning plan with the consent of the VP and SV ntActing in accordance with legal, regulatory and internal risk management requirements, including complying with all MFS policies and procedures and internal guidance note s;Reporting business issues to the SFA, FAS, AVP, VP or S What You Bring ng: Degree Holder in Accounting, Finance or Econom ics;Good English communication skills and be able to speak Cantonese. Mandarin will be a p lus.Relevant working experience in fund accounting is an advantage, though it is not essential.
