About Us

Singapore American School is a reputable educational institution seeking an experienced Theatre Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining and managing the school's apparel needs, ensuring high-quality costumes and uniforms are available for theatrical performances and daily use.

Job Summary

We offer a competitive salary package that includes a base salary of SGD 4,200 per month (approximately USD 3,100), depending on qualifications and experience. Our benefits package includes medical insurance, paid annual leave, and opportunities for professional development.

Theatre Technician Role

  • Assist in designing, constructing, and maintaining theatrical costumes and props for school productions;
  • Maintain and repair sewing machines, overlockers, and other equipment essential for apparel maintenance;
  • Ensure timely completion of tasks and deadlines, working independently with minimal supervision when necessary;
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues from various departments, including theatre, drama, and design;
  • Provide excellent customer service, addressing student and staff inquiries regarding costume requests and availability;
  • Develop and implement strategies for efficient inventory management, minimizing waste and optimizing resource allocation;
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging their involvement in costume design and construction;
  • Support students in gaining hands-on experience with various sewing techniques and textile manipulation methods.

Requirements

  • A strong foundation in sewing, garment construction, and textile science;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders;
  • Ability to work efficiently, prioritizing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines;
  • Familiarity with industry-standard software and tools for costume design and construction;
  • Knowledge of best practices in inventory management and resource allocation;
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a cohesive team, supporting colleagues and contributing to shared goals;
  • Passion for arts education and commitment to delivering high-quality theatre experiences;
  • Valid Singapore employment pass or equivalent documentation required.

Additional Information

This is a full-time position requiring approximately 35-40 hours of work per week, with occasional overtime for special events or projects. We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment with opportunities for growth and professional development.
