Job Overview

The Cyber Security and Tech Risk Consultant/Senior Consultant/Manager is responsible for conducting Cyber and IT Risk evaluations, providing strategic recommendations, and implementing measures to detect and mitigate cyber threats. This role involves thorough research and assessment of technical and all-source intelligence, particularly focusing on network operations and cyber tactics, techniques, and procedures, with an emphasis on safeguarding networked systems and information infrastructures.

The Consultant will integrate threat intelligence from diverse sources and analyze network activities to ascertain the identity and methods of malicious actors operating within or threatening network environments. Collaboration with technical, forensic, and incident management teams is essential to develop a comprehensive understanding of the objectives and activities of cyber threat entities. Ultimately, the Consultant will assist clients in enhancing their IT risk strategies, refining risk management processes, and strengthening controls.

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate the trade-offs necessary to manage varying levels of risk tolerance and exposure across the organization while balancing risk investments. Develop mechanisms to proactively gauge the adoption and usage patterns of consumer technologies by end users, ensuring alignment of policies with user needs. Collaborate with technology and business units to assess, implement, and monitor IT-related security risks and hazards. Prepare assessments and cyber threat profiles based on sophisticated research and analysis of classified and open-source information. Produce high-quality reports, presentations, recommendations, and findings for senior management and enterprise technology leaders. Deliver briefings and presentations to customer leadership to support decision-making in Information Security and Network Operations.

General Qualifications

Requires specialized knowledge and expertise in IT Risk. Interprets internal or external business challenges and recommends best practices. Collaborates with others to address complex issues, employing advanced analytical skills to identify innovative solutions. Works independently, seeking guidance only in the most complex scenarios.

Technical Skills

Proficient in understanding physical components, various types of networks, operating systems, databases, protocols, and topologies. Familiar with the techniques used by threat actors to compromise organizations and adept at extracting information from large datasets. Knowledgeable in collection and analysis methodologies, as well as multiple tools (e.g., Penetration Testing) aimed at data correlation and technical analysis.

Business Acumen

Capable of articulating complex Cyber Threats to non-technical business stakeholders. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to educate others on IT security concepts. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Leadership and Communication Skills

Operates independently and with minimal supervision to identify emerging threats to network environments. Demonstrates the ability to adapt to high-pressure and dynamic environments. Team-oriented, capable of collaborating with diverse personnel within the intelligence community. Makes decisions with cross-functional implications. Understands how to translate intelligence requirements into actionable collection needs. Communicates complex concepts effectively; persuades and negotiates with senior stakeholders to adopt alternative perspectives. Possesses the ability to justify and defend assessments and recommendations made.

Problem-Solving Capabilities

Collaborates with others to tackle complex challenges, utilizing advanced analytical thinking and relevant experience to exercise sound judgment and identify innovative solutions. Demonstrates critical thinking by defining problems, applying root cause analysis to Cyber Security controls, and proposing actionable recommendations.

Qualifications

3-10 years of experience in Information Technology Security or Risk, preferably from an IT Audit or IT Risk consulting background. A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Security, Cyber Intelligence, or a related field is preferred. Experience with Data Visualization tools such as Tableau and Cloud Security. Familiarity with Technology Risks and Controls, as well as Governance, Risk, and Compliance tools. Knowledge of GRC tools configuration is advantageous. An advanced degree in relevant fields is a plus. Professional certifications such as CISA are beneficial.
