Job Description

The Automation and Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring the reliability and efficiency of marine and industrial automation equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex PLC and HMI control systems used in marine boilers, air conditioning, and refrigeration units.
  • Maintain and repair electrical distribution systems, including ACB retrofits, power management systems, and load sharing technologies.
  • Work on generator power systems, including AVR, rotating diodes, and excitation systems.
  • Install and maintain auto load sharing, standby start sequence, and Power Management Systems.
  • Manage Inert Gas Systems and Inert Gas Generators to ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Monitor Alarm Monitoring Systems to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Install and maintain Tank Gauging Systems to track inventory levels accurately.
  • Work on hydraulic valve controls and hydraulic power pack systems for cargo valves to optimize vessel performance.
  • Maintain Framo system controls and perform logical troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  • Inspect Oil Water Separators regularly to prevent environmental damage.
  • Operate ODME systems to optimize oil recovery processes.
  • Work on Motor starters, sequence start, and Emergency Stop systems to ensure safe vessel operations.
  • Install and maintain main engine maneuvering and safety systems to reduce risk.
  • Repair diesel generator control and safety systems to prevent power outages.
  • Install and maintain lighting control and distribution systems to improve vessel visibility.
  • Work on 24VDC system control and distribution to support critical systems.
  • Install and maintain marine Radar, VHF, ECDIS, VDR, Gyro, MF/HF, FBB, AIS, BNWAS systems to enhance navigation and communication capabilities.
  • Install and maintain IT systems hardware, network switches, routers, and firewalls to protect against cyber threats.
  • Work on custody transfer metering systems to ensure accurate fuel measurements.
  • Calibrate bi-directional prover and small volume prover water draw calibration to ensure accurate fluid measurements.
  • Calibrate pressure, temperature, and level instrument calibration and verification to ensure accurate process control.
  • Install and maintain fire detection systems to prevent vessel fires.
  • Work on gas detection systems to identify potential hazards.
  • Install and maintain water mist systems to extinguish fires quickly and effectively.
  • Install and maintain galley equipment to provide safe food preparation facilities.

This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving abilities. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team to achieve project goals. Accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities must be maintained, and adherence to all safety regulations and industry standards is essential.
