Job Title: Packaging Innovation Manager

Ferrero Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd. is seeking a highly skilled Packaging Innovation Manager to join our team in Product Protection-Packaging Innovation. As a key member of our Open Innovation Science team, you will be responsible for driving open innovation activities, scouting for packaging innovation, and evaluating potential projects.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Monitor development and progress of scientific and technological innovations within relevant opportunity areas
  • Lead the identification and assessment of new trends and scientific developments in food packaging, polymer and material science
  • Remain on forefront of emerging industry trends and competitor products and technologies, strategies, and activities
  • Utilize technical and creative-problem solving skills to successfully translate scientific developments and consumer needs into clear opportunity areas and potential technical solutions
  • Conduct robust patent review and IP landscape work
  • Manage scouting and execution process of Ferrero OI within assigned focus area
  • Identify and prioritize new opportunity areas, assess strategic relevance and support their consideration by management and OI Board
  • Scout opportunity areas that are relevant to Ferrero business and within priority opportunity areas approved
  • Evaluate relevant opportunities, drive business case development in collaboration with other functions, present the identified opportunities for further approval
  • Support implementation of the innovation strategy for approved opportunities including business cases and deal structuring
  • Assist in creating, building and reviewing strategic and financial analyses in support of business case development
  • Support business activities and deployment stage, gather market needs and insights
  • Provide input on market innovation strategies
  • Drive complex packaging acceleration plan composed by multipronged project, based upon multi and parallel opportunity evaluation and deployment, included leveraging fail fast working model
  • Manage packaging lab activities towards a robust support for accelerated packaging innovation pipeline
  • Drive new tech providers, scouted towards a known scale-up environment
  • Manage a packaging ground breaking change from a standard formulation frame towards an environmental sustainable technical proposition
  • Build a robust internal and external network of experts and partners
  • Coherently work as an integral team member of the Innovation Center
  • Participate, contribute to and manage cross-functional and topical meetings at the Innovation center to drive Innovation mandate
  • Independently manage execution of projects and reporting, be responsible for managing budget and reporting
  • Be accountable for Health & Safety certification and audit of the packaging lab
  • Manage and lead the team member, ensuring the professional development
Requirements:
  • Masters or PhD degree in Food packaging, polymer science, material science or equivalent. MBA preferred
  • Strong scientific competence in food packaging and materials science, with will and ability to extend scope of work beyond the area of expertise
  • Relevant professional expertise, pack product management experience in a FMCG is preferred. Academic experience and / or startup experience is desired
  • Strong knowledge of Asia packaging ecosystem in term of suppliers, universities, start-ups, MNCs
  • Knowledge of sustainable packaging and materials domain
  • Strong business acumen, with solid project management and planning and control capabilities
  • High self-organization and structured way of working, good time and self-management skills
  • Ability to work across teams and manage multiple stakeholders in cross-functional projects in an effective way
  • Adaptiveness and flexibility while dealing with the emerging environment, with the good ability to multitask
  • Good communication skills, ability to connect with people and drive to joint outcomes
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken, any Asian language is considered of a strong plus
