At Singapore University of Technology and Design, we are seeking a talented Engineering Design Researcher to join our innovative team. As a key member of our faculty, you will have the opportunity to mature with, and help shape the design area at SUTD.

The successful candidate will work across all areas of academic activity: education, research, service to the university, and outreach. They will be part of an innovative team, where they will utilise their demonstrated skills in blended learning to develop and deliver high-quality student-centred undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The candidate will engage in engineering design research and teaching at all levels, from first-year undergraduate to PhD level, in multiple design courses, either co-teaching, leading a team of colleagues, or being the sole instructor. Courses that have to do with topics like Engineering Design Innovation, Design Thinking, and Design Science (to name just a few) from an Engineering perspective, heavy on research tools and research methods.

Becoming part of SUTD means you will meet with colleagues from all backgrounds to collaborate and develop your own niche in engineering design research. You will have the opportunity to leave your own mark by understanding what others have done before you, and the work they have developed up to now, and consequently contribute with your own vision of multidisciplinary design teaching and convergent engineering design research.

We are looking for a candidate who has:

  • A PhD in Engineering, with a proven record of teaching and research in engineering design and related topics
  • Proven experience in working autonomously and in teams, multi-tasking between teaching and research
  • An appetite for improving teaching and learning of engineering design
  • A willingness to tackle complex problems in engineering design research, potentially spanning across multiple application domains
  • The ability to interact both face-to-face as well as virtually with students, peers, and all relevant stakeholders
  • The drive to network and engage with funding agencies and companies, and secure the necessary funding to conduct research and build a well-connected research team
