Cardiac Technologist Job Description

To deliver exceptional patient care, Cardiac Technologists are responsible for performing a range of diagnostic and interventional procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Pre-operatively checks patients to ensure accurate identification and procedure execution
  • Ensures timely entry of patient risk factors and clinical data into the CIIMS system or equivalent cardiac reports
  • Performs ECG lead placement, blood pressure, and pulse oximetry setup for haemodynamic monitoring
  • Identifies major life-threatening ECG abnormalities and initiates emergency resuscitation as required
  • Monitors and reports changes in patient condition to cardiologists
  • Generates accurate cath reports from diagnostic or interventional procedures
  • Maintains proper documentation of medications and event logs into cardiovascular information systems (CCW)
  • Completes consumables charge forms for all cases performed in Invasive Cardiac Labs
Technical Skills:
  • ECG lead placement
  • Blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup
  • Catheterization and angiography
  • Electrophysiology studies and pacemaker implantation
