Medical Laboratory Technologist Position
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist, you will play a vital role in the daily operations of the laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing various laboratory tests, including phlebotomy and clinical laboratory work.
The ideal candidate should possess excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication skills. He or she should also be able to work effectively in a team environment and prioritize tasks efficiently.
Key responsibilities include:
- Performing daily operations of the laboratory, including phlebotomy and clinical laboratory work.
- Conducting all procedures in accordance with laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Ensuring specimen identification, processing, and storage of test specimens are consistent with good laboratory practices.
- Performing and verifying quality control for all analysers prior to patients sampling.
- Using the Laboratory Information System (LIS) to perform functions such as result entry, result validation, and tracking for outstanding tests.
- Providing accurate and reliable test results for clinicians.
- Maintaining analyzers/equipment properly and ensuring they are well-maintained.
- Notifying the medical technologist/lab in charge when instrument malfunctions and arranging for service with BME or the instrument vendor.
- Notifying the inventory person in charge when reagents and stock supplies run low.
- Performing and recording internal and external quality controls and calibrations, troubleshooting outliers according to work instructions.
- Reporting critical values to relevant personnel within 30 minutes.
- Ensuring daily maintenance and QC records are up-to-date.
- Complying with hand hygiene, workplace safety, International Patient Safety Goals (IPSG), and other applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements of the laboratory.
- Providing prompt and courteous service to external and internal customers (e.g. patients, doctors, service providers, colleagues).
- Reporting adverse incidents and workflow anomalies to the supervisor.
- Observing strict NUHS personal data protection act and adhering to internet/intranet cybersecurity guidelines.
