Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to fill the position of Propeller Research Engineer. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in the development, validation, and optimization of 3D-printed propellers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting hydrodynamic analysis, finite element modeling, overseeing site-based test bedding, data collection, reporting, and evaluating performance using Response Surface Methodology.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in and managing research projects with Principal Investigators, Co-PIs, and research teams to ensure project deliverables are met.
  • Undertaking responsibilities in the project, including hydrodynamic analysis, finite element modeling, and site test bedding and validation.
  • Gathering experimental data during site trials, including hydrodynamic, structural, and environmental parameters.
  • Analyzing data to validate models and identify areas for design improvement.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master's or PhD in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in hydrodynamic modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, Star CCM, Fluent, OpenFOAM) and finite element analysis software (e.g., Abaqus, ANSYS).
  • Familiarity with 3D printing technologies and materials is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical skills and familiarity with data collection instruments and techniques.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
