Position Overview
We are in search of a seasoned and proactive professional to take on the role of Senior Director of Philanthropic Engagement. This position is crucial in fostering successful and fulfilling relationships with our donor base. You will spearhead and manage all facets of the donor engagement and success initiatives, collaborating closely with various teams within the Philanthropic Group and NCSS to cultivate outstanding partnerships with our donor community. This is a senior leadership role that demands a strategic outlook, robust business insight, and a fervor for advancing donor-focused initiatives in philanthropic involvement. Your expertise in managing complex stakeholder relationships, maintaining composure under pressure, and resolving conflicts effectively will be essential in achieving sustainable, long-term partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

  • Philanthropic Sustainability Framework: Build and lead a high-performing donor success team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and support to ensure the team excels in surpassing fundraising goals for the Community Chest Fund and key product lines such as SHARE, Change-for-Charity, and the Community Capability Trust by effectively implementing NCSS' Sustainable Philanthropy Framework.
  • Strategic Planning: Formulate and execute comprehensive strategies to engage philanthropic donors and partners, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and objectives. Identify and forge partnerships with corporations, government entities, trade associations, and SSAs to leverage resources and enhance impact. Explore and nurture new donor segments and revenue streams by utilizing NCSS's extensive resources, including matching grants and government-supported initiatives.
  • Sector Development & Advocacy: Foster and manage relationships with individual donors, foundations, corporations, and other stakeholders to boost contributions of Time, Treasure, and Talent. Lead fundraising initiatives across assigned sectors, including campaigns, events, and appeals, in close coordination with NCSS Services and Fund Allocations teams on NCSS-funded programs and other nationally strategic initiatives.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement: Work closely with internal PG teams, including Philanthropic Experience and Philanthropic Strategy, services, fund allocation, communications, and finance teams, to ensure alignment and integration of fundraising efforts with organizational goals. Collaborate with the Community Chest Committee, Sub-committees, PC Steering Committee, and key stakeholders to strategize and implement various philanthropic and volunteerism initiatives.
  • Donor Management, Insights, and Reporting: Create and maintain an updated pipeline of donor leads and opportunities for tracking and reporting on fundraising activities and outcomes, ensuring accountability and transparency to stakeholders. Participate in the development, utilization, and refinement of donor data and insights to enhance the donor and user experience. Ensure risk management and mitigation on systems and public-facing platforms and touchpoints.
  • Strategic Communication: Craft compelling messaging and materials to effectively convey the impact of philanthropic support and partnerships to donors, partners, and the broader community. Act as a designated spokesperson when assigned by GD/PG for People-Public-Private sectors and media inquiries to represent the philanthropy and engagement area of work for Community Chest, with support from NCSS Communication & Marketing.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated success with at least 15+ years in customer success, account management, or a related field, including but not limited to fundraising, philanthropy, and social services, with a minimum of 6 years in leadership roles.
  • High-energy, people-oriented leadership with a proven track record in successfully leading and scaling a revenue-generating customer-facing team, preferably in securing major gifts, grants, and revenue-generating partnerships.
  • Exceptional networking and relationship-building skills, with the capacity to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience in crafting persuasive proposals and presentations.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and complex organizational environment.
  • Commercially astute with strong business acumen and change management experience, coupled with a passion for and keen understanding of social services sector trends and opportunities.
