We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced leader to join our team as an Associate Director of Technology. This individual will be responsible for delivering large-scale digital technology initiatives and managing teams across multiple locations.

  • Develop and implement strategies for digital transformation, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Coach and grow teams to manage different streams of work, promoting collaboration and innovation.
  • Provide hands-on support to application delivery teams, resolving technical difficulties and ensuring successful project execution.
  • Work with internal teams to complete solution selection, architecture design, vendor onboarding, and other critical tasks.
  • Define and implement digital engineering best practices, ensuring the technology stack remains up-to-date and secure.
  • Oversee application development, adhering to SDLC and security standards, as well as regulatory requirements.
  • Build a strong understanding of insurance business processes, collaborating with stakeholders to drive business growth.
  • Effectively manage stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and expectations.
  • Fulfill Fair dealing-related work requests, supporting businesses in meeting their objectives.
  • Perform other responsibilities and duties as periodically assigned by supervisor.
Requirements:
  • Degree in IT or equivalent
  • Minimum 15 years of IT work experience in Life insurance applications development, testing, and data management
  • Proven working experience in managing large-scale applications, data migration, and cloud-native/hybrid environments
  • Good knowledge of programming languages Java, SQL scripting, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with knowledge of iOS/Android Native and React Native a plus
  • Deep understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices
  • Experience building teams across locations, coaching personnel to deploy solutions in diverse locations
  • Working knowledge of the general technology landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and debugging skills, willingness to roll up sleeves to get the job done
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Good motivator and facilitator, demonstrated success in stakeholder management and ability to interact with diverse stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal guidance, strong sense of ownership
  • Positive attitude and willingness to share and learn
  • Self-motivated, self-organizing, and possess drive and lead by example
  • Familiarity with risk management and quality assurance control
  • Leadership skill with ability to drive digital technology teams, proven ability to coach and develop others
  • Strong people and stakeholders' management skills
