Research Economist Job Description

This role involves conducting in-depth research and analysis on macroeconomic trends and microeconomic data for over 50 corporates across South East Asia countries. The successful candidate will lead the identification of potential investment targets, ensuring timely and accurate response to relevant market events and releases.

  • Conduct thorough research on macroeconomic and microeconomic indicators to inform investment decisions.
  • Develop and maintain databases of key economic and political events affecting corporate performance.
  • Provide expert analysis and support to business units on external client needs and internal requirements such as stress tests.
  • Perform fundamental analysis on identified targets, generating comprehensive reports on quantitative and qualitative information, including ESG analysis.
  • Identify new sectors and asset classes for investment opportunities.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Statistics, or Finance.
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in finance industry.
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in tools like Excel macros and Bloomberg.
  • Competency in creating financial models, cash flow, and balance sheet analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with commercial acumen and ability to plan, organize, and lead effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with senior management and ability to work under stress.
  • Data presentation and report writing are essential.
