Job Description

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing and maintaining a company's quality management system within the manufacturing plant. This includes ensuring that products are manufactured to meet internal and external quality standards, conducting audits and inspections, managing quality control processes, and leading initiatives to improve manufacturing processes and product quality.

This role involves devising and establishing quality procedures, standards, and specifications, reviewing customer requirements, and working with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers. The Quality Assurance Manager sets standards for quality as well as health and safety, ensures that manufacturing or production processes meet international and national standards, and looks at ways to reduce waste and increase efficiency.

The manager defines quality procedures in conjunction with Quality Engineers, sets up and maintains quality controls and documentation procedures, monitors company quality performance by gathering relevant data and producing statistical reports, reviews existing policies, and makes suggestions for changes and improvements and how to implement them.

They measure team performance and identify areas of weakness, recommending and implementing improvements, assess the effectiveness of changes made, use relevant quality tools, and make sure managers, engineers, and other staff understand how to improve the business.

The Quality Assurance Manager trains and manages a team of quality assurance engineers and quality control technicians and has the ability to perform internal and external auditing in relation to ISO system requirements, knowledge in supplier management, knowledge of quality management standards such as ISO 9001, 14001, 13485, and ISO 22301, knowledge in PFMEA, Control Plans, and GR&R, and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite of programs.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Degree or diploma in quality management, mechanical engineering/precision engineering, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience in the field of plastic injection manufacturing preferred
  • Ability to analyze, solve problems, and make decisions
  • Strong leadership skills with a can-do attitude to always improve and initiate new ways of working
