Job Title: Instrument Technician Assistant

Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Instrument Technician Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing sterile and reusable surgical instruments and equipment by demonstrating competence in all aspects of sterile processing.

  • Receiving, sorting, decontaminating, inspecting, packing, sterilizing, storing, and distributing surgical items.
  • Loading and operating washer-disinfectors, dryers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers.
  • Performing and evaluating sterilizer test indicators.
  • Performing inventory of all sterile linen and surgical consumables supplies.
  • Issuing sterile supplies to all operating rooms.
  • Cleaning the TSSU storage area.
  • Demonstrating proper use and care of equipment.
  • Reporting defective equipment and taking appropriate action to repair or replace.
  • Identifying and notifying In-charge of instruments that need to be repaired/replaced.
  • Ensuring daily cleaning of Decom area.
  • Facilitating smooth running of activities within the TSSU.

Responsibilities:

Main Responsibilities (80%):

  • Providing sterile and reusable surgical instruments and equipment by demonstrating competence in all aspects of sterile processing.
  • Loading and operating washer-disinfectors, dryers, ultrasonic washers, and sterilizers.
  • Performing and evaluating sterilizer test indicators.
  • Issuing sterile supplies to all operating rooms.
  • Ensuring daily cleaning of Decom area.

Secondary Responsibilities (20%):

  • Participating in clinical and service quality activities as required.
  • Demonstrating awareness of current healthcare practices.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • I.T.E in Engineering or relevant technical credentials or WSQ Higher Certificate in Healthcare Support (Sterilisation Services).
  • Preferable with working experience as Instrument Technical Assistant or relevant experience in CSSD/TSSU.
  • Possess good inter-personal and supervisory skills.
  • Good command of written English and Simple Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
