Role Overview
This Mechanical Engineer with Geotechnical Expertise position will play a pivotal role in the planning and budgeting for preventive maintenance and upgrades of our geotechnical drilling and geophysical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and planning for mechanical equipment inspection and testing throughout the year.
- Collaborate with the equipment resource manager on upgrades relating to equipment, including modification works.
- Participate in mobilization activities of mechanical equipment, developing procedures and task plans as instructed.
- Arrange contractors for repairs & maintenance and assigned activities on vessels and in the workshop, ensuring machines, equipment, and tools are properly maintained.
- Remotely supervise rig mechanics onboard vessels, ensuring timely and effective repair and maintenance, including preventive maintenance for offshore drill rigs and geotechnical equipment.
- Conduct periodical inspections of geotechnical equipment onboard ships and in Warehouse to ensure safe operation.
- Identify potential issues and recommend additional support from contractors for critical Mobilisation / Repair activities concerning mechanical equipment like Winches and Power packs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, certification, and spare part information for geotechnical equipment in the planned maintenance system.
- Develop a comprehensive spares package for geotech equipment and manage inventory effectively.
- Ensure all work performed meets project requirements and adheres to company rules and methods.
- Prioritize Safety, Health & Quality at work sites.
- Stand by as an emergency contact to troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic equipment issues with field staff.
- Define and update spares & consumables required for geotechnical equipment in STAR PMS onboard Fugro managed or chartered vessels for mechanical equipment.
About You
We seek a qualified Mechanical Engineer with at least 8 years of hands-on experience servicing hydraulic and mechanical equipment used in the Marine & Offshore industry, with a minimum of 3 years focusing on hydraulic equipment for offshore facilities like MODU's and Rigs.
