The main responsibility of the assistant teacher are to support teachers in achieving the Centre and programme goals in close partnership with the Therapists, Social Workers, Psychology Associates, Administrative Staff and Families of the children.

They report directly to the Principal Lead Teacher and/ or Senior Teacher. The role involves:

  • Co-teaching an effective education programme for the class to meet every child's Individualised Education Plan (IEP)">
  • Brainstorming and planning activities to support students' learning">
  • Preparing teaching resources">
  • Ensuring students are well supervised during contact time in the centre/classroom">
  • Managing students' behavior">
  • Carrying out recommended therapeutic interventions">
  • Receiving and discharging the students before and after class">
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy, safe and conducive learning environment">
  • Supervising the Teacher Aides under their charge">
  • Attending workshops and in-service training">
  • Maintaining good communication with parents">

In this role you will need to possess:

">

A Diploma in a related field such as Psychology, Early Childhood, Social Work or Special Needs

">

Relevant work experience in teaching children between the ages of 0 - 6 in Early Childhood or Early Intervention settings

">

You should also have:

Mature, independent, creative thinking and be able to motivate children

">

Good people skills

">

The ability to work independently

">

A strong understanding of diverse cultures and races

">

Patience, love, passion & commitment in the education of & nurturing young children and empowering the families

A valid First Aid Certificate
