Job Title: Finishing Editor

As a Finishing Editor, you will play a crucial role in bringing projects to completion. This position involves ensuring that all visual and audio elements are precise, aligned, and delivered to the highest standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Picture Conform: Carefully aligning high-quality source media to approved offline edits with exact timing.
  • Sound Conform: Replacing offline sound design with final programme stems for mixing.
  • Dialogue Editing: Ensuring clear and crisp dialogue in the final product.
  • Content Reframing: Adapting content for different aspect ratios and platforms.
  • Final Picture QC: Conducting meticulous bug placement and adherence to platform or broadcast safe zones.
  • Final Sound QC: Identifying unclear dialogue in the mix and adhering to loudness specifications.
  • Audiostem QC: Detecting additional, misplaced or missing sound content in stems.
  • Localisation Metadata: Verifying EDL/XML file references, timecodes, track order and filenames to facilitate content localisation.
  • Containerising Multi-Channel Stems: Preparing multi-channel stems for delivery.

Desirable Skills:

  • Colour Correction & Grading: Applying precise colour correction and grading techniques.
  • Mentoring Assistant Editors: Guiding and developing the skills of junior editors.
  • Sound Mix and Mastering: Expertly mixing and mastering audio for optimal quality.
  • Familiarity with IMF & DCP: Understanding international interoperable mastering format and digital cinema package.
  • OMF and AAF Interchange Formats: Working effectively with OMF and AAF interchange formats for sound post-production workflows.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 to 7 years of experience in conform and finishing roles.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Deep understanding of video and sound encoding, broadcast and cinema delivery formats.
  • Strong organisational skills in managing project bins, timeline layers and tracks, and file management.
  • A portfolio is required for consideration.
