Job Responsibilities:
- To perform duties at the same level as a Medical Officer, including call shifts and responsibilities, under the supervision of the Head of Department.
- Assist, guide, and supervise House Officers in their duties, reviewing new cases promptly and checking House Officers' findings and notes.
- Prepare medical reports within specified timeframes, with urgent reports due within a week and non-urgent reports within two weeks.
- Ensure accuracy and completion of Hospital Inpatient Discharge Summary Forms and diagnosis & disease index on case records, consulting Senior Medical Staff when necessary.
- Assist Senior Medical Staff in running Specialist Outpatient Clinics and obtain prior approval for major treatment changes or discharging long-term patients from follow-up care.
- Update relatives on patients' conditions and explain procedures to patients and their relatives, obtaining consent when designated by Senior Medical Staff.
- Sign Death Certificates and obtain consent for autopsy of deceased patients, informing Senior Medical Staff of any major problems and discharges against medical advice.
- Participate in departmental teaching activities as directed by the HOD and perform other medical duties as directed by senior medical staff.
- Be prepared to cover duties of junior doctors when needed.
Job Requirements:
- Hold an MBBS or postgraduate qualification recognized by the Singapore Medical Council.
- Have at least 3 years of experience as a Medical Officer.
- Be able to work independently in a department and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Able to perform calls.
