Job Title: Senior Data Engineering Manager

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a high-performing data engineering function, driving the design, development and maintenance of scalable, reliable and secure data platforms on Azure. The successful candidate will oversee the development and management of the enterprise data warehouse (EDW), data pipelines and advanced analytics capabilities, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

About the Job
The Senior Data Engineering Manager will be responsible for leading the data engineering function, including the development, maintenance and optimization of the EDW and associated data pipelines on Azure. This includes implementing the data engineering roadmap, ensuring alignment with product roadmaps of the Data Analytics domain.
The role involves overseeing the end-to-end software development lifecycle, including design, development, deployment and support, ensuring timely and quality delivery.
In addition, the Senior Data Engineering Manager will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data models, ETL/ELT processes, data ingestion frameworks and real-time data streaming.
Collaboration with Data Analysts, Product Managers and data architects is essential to deliver robust, timely and accurate data solutions.
The role also involves establishing engineering excellence through coding standards, DevOps practices and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Furthermore, the Senior Data Engineering Manager will co-coordinate with project managers, business stakeholders and IT support teams to ensure operational readiness for transitioning projects to business as usual.
Manging third-party vendors and contractors to supplement internal capabilities when required is also part of the job description.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the data engineering function, including the development, maintenance and optimization of the EDW and associated data pipelines on Azure.

  • Manage third-party vendors and contractors to supplement internal capabilities when required.


Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in data engineering with significant experience in leadership roles.
  • Proven experience building and managing enterprise data platforms, preferably on Azure.
  • Deep expertise in Azure data services including Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL and related tools.
  • Strong understanding of data architecture, ETL/ELT design patterns, data governance and security best practices.
  • Experience managing enterprise data warehouse platforms and supporting business intelligence and advanced analytics use cases.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies and modern DevOps practices in data engineering.
  • Ability to build high-performing, motivated and collaborative teams.
  • Experience managing external service providers.
  • Highly organized and good multi-tasker.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
