Principal Materials Specialist

The Principal Material Specialist plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of material engineering strategies for our offshore facilities. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent technical knowledge, and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
About the Role:
This is a mid-senior level position that involves leading and controlling material engineering activities for FPSO/FLNG or offshore facilities projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in offshore oil and gas, with expertise in material engineering and a strategic focus on material selection for conceptual, pre-FEED, FEED, and EPCI projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Corporate Technical Standards and Procedures: Develop corporate technical standards and procedures for material engineering, including material selection philosophy, piping/valve material specification, surface preparation and coating specification, color coding specification, sacrificial anode specification, ICCS specification, etc.
- Topside Engineering Workflow and Engineering Platform: Develop topside engineering workflow and engineering platform to ensure efficient and effective project execution.
- Material Discipline Team Management: Assist Head of Discipline in managing the corporate organization, mentor junior material engineers, and manage interfaces with all relevant disciplines.
- Project Execution: Conduct feasibility studies, Pre-FEED, FEED, FEED verification, and EPCI phase engineering (detailed engineering), develop corrosion and erosion simulations, review results for adequacy of material selection, and provide technical advice or lead as Project Discipline Lead - Material Engineering in executing Feasibility / Conceptual Study / Pre-FEED / FEED, EPCI Engineering for FPSO/FLNG or offshore facilities projects.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure regulatory compliance and develop project design philosophies, standards, and procedures to fit each project.
Requirements:
- Education: Minimum bachelor's degree or master's degree in safety engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 15 years of experience in the offshore or onshore oil and gas industry, with minimum consecutive 7 years' experience at a top-tier FPSO contractor or offshore/onshore EPC contractor.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work effectively independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, strong attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, and manage multiple priorities.
