The Role

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Wordings Specialist to join our team. As a Senior Wordings Specialist, you will be responsible for interpreting and analysing reinsurance clauses and/or wording requests, drafting your own reinsurance clauses and wordings from scratch in a clear and robust manner.

You will work closely with key stakeholders to build new insurance products from scratch or refine or expand existing products, leading innovation for the brand. You will also collaborate with colleagues across the Wordings team, the wider Legal Department and beyond to deliver on team goals, service delivery requirements and internal projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Analysing and reviewing existing products, new products and those of our competitors, including analysis and explanation of individual clauses right through to entire product wordings.
  • Creating and innovating new insurance products from scratch or refining or expanding existing products.
  • Collaborating with colleagues across the Wordings team, the wider Legal Department and beyond to deliver on team goals, service delivery requirements and internal projects.

You will have the opportunity to demonstrate your technical drafting skills and advisory services to the underwriters, their clients and brokers in order to provide a service differentiator for the company.

Required Skills and Qualifications

We're looking for someone who has the following abilities and skills:

  • Relevant experience in (re)insurance contract interpretation/advisory, claims management, or underwriting, preferably supported by legal qualifications.
  • Ability to interpret and analyse (re)insurance clause and/or wording requests and to satisfy these by drafting your own (re)insurance clauses and wordings from scratch in a clear and robust manner (in English).
  • Confidence to deliver your own wording solutions to underwriters, brokers and peers both in writing and face to face.
  • Comprehensive understanding of what the business, legal and compliance needs are for individual insurance classes, with a focus on non-consumer type insurance products.
