In this role, you will be part of the Foreign desk leadership team, shaping our regional and international coverage. You will work closely with a team of editors and correspondents across Asia-Pacific, Europe and America to make sense of fast-moving developments in areas from global trade to domestic politics.
This position has a particular focus on Southeast Asia. As an editor, your task will be to guide foreign correspondents in identifying and producing original stories that offer an accurate picture of how people in Southeast Asia's diverse countries live, work and play.
You will help them sensemake and connect the dots between what is happening in their respective patches and other parts of the world. Your goal will be to conceptualise and edit exclusive news reports, features and multimedia content that resonate with our readers.
To succeed in this role, you should have at least 12 years of experience in journalism and related fields. Field experience as a correspondent in a Southeast Asia country is a distinct advantage. You should also have well-honed news sense and strong leadership skills.
Other key responsibilities include mentoring younger editors on the desk, coordinating with other teams in the newsroom to put together integrated multimedia and longform projects, and planning ahead to cover major news events and developments.
