We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Research Assistant for the Data and Theory Driven Artificial Intelligence to Boost the Science of Learning project. This contract position offers the possibility of renewal, with the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in the field of education.

About the Project

The project aims to harness the power of big data from online education platforms to drive effective learning outcomes. The focus is on three key areas:

  • CURRENT TRENDS IN ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE FOR EDUCATION: We will explore the latest advancements in AI for education, including Generative AI, and its potential to revolutionize teaching and learning.
  • IMPLEMENTING EXPERIMENTAL STUDIES FOR TEACHING AND LEARNING WITH AI: The project involves designing and implementing experimental studies in primary schools to investigate the effectiveness of AI-powered teaching and learning methods.
  • PUBLISHING RESEARCH FINDINGS: The project culminates in publishing research findings for various stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, and educators.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Co-designing and developing experimental research in Singapore schools aligned with project needs and requirements.
  • Researching and devising appropriate learning analytics/conversational analysis tools for data analysis.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to understand analytic needs and devise possible solutions.
  • Communicating research implications of data to various stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor degree in Psychology, Education, Social Sciences or related field.
  • Work experience in social science or education research.
  • Desirable interests, skills, and attributes:
    • Experience in teaching primary mathematics.
    • Knowledge of and/or interest in learning theories.
    • Experience in systematic reviews and literature review.
    • Knowledge of and/or interest in educational technology and Artificial Intelligence for education.
    • Knowledge of and/or interest in learning analytics, conversational analysis, and/or dialogical learning/pedagogy.
    • Proactive, eager to learn and perform.
    • Good communication skills.
    • Good self-management skills for task structure and management to achieve given goals and objectives.
