Lineman

Electrical Technicians play a crucial role in supporting infrastructure projects. This seasonal position involves working as part of a team under the Antarctic Support Contract.

This technician will perform electrical distribution maintenance or construction work, or any combination thereof, under supervision. Tasking is based on ASC schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities (not all inclusive) :

• Install branch circuits, power distribution wiring, electrical equipment, fixtures, and conduit in compliance with codes and regulations
• Perform hands-on installation and maintenance of overhead electrical lines, adhering to applicable codes and working with voltages up to 4160 volts
• Diagnose, repair, and perform Preventative Maintenance on existing systems, equipment, fixtures, and infrastructure
• Timely response to emergency service calls during and outside of normal working hours
• Maintain accurate records of hours worked, tasking performed, materials used, and processes involved
• Advise Supervisor of job progress and material/labor requirements
• Work directly with other departments to plan and complete tasking
• Prepare and document work plans, job hazard analysis, job safety analysis, code required forms, checklists, and internal procedural documents
• Perform tasking outdoors in environmentally challenging conditions including wind and extreme cold weather

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED
• Journeyman lineman license, completion of an apprenticeship program, or proof of holding a journeyman lineman union card
• Minimum four years of experience in all phases of the lineman trade including rough wiring, power distribution wiring, installation and maintenance of power distribution systems, installation of conduit, and wiring of electrical equipment
