Sheetmetal Fabrication Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Sheetmetal Fabrication Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing sheetmetal fabrication, assembly, and installation tasks on maintenance or construction projects.

This is a seasonal contract position supporting the National Science Foundation managed United States Antarctic Program as part of the Antarctic Support Contract (ASC). Tasking is based on ASC schedule requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform sheet metal fabrication, assembly and installation on maintenance and construction projects
  • Perform layout and fabrication of ductwork and building components, using mechanical fasteners or welding
  • Performs a variety of sheetmetal fabrications for heating and ventilation systems and building components using a variety of sheetmetal forming tools and equipment
  • May be required to assist with insulation projects
  • Timely response to emergency service calls during and outside of normal working hours
  • Accurate and thorough documentation of hours worked, tasking performed, materials used, and processes involved
  • Advise immediate Supervisor of job progress and material/labor requirements

The ideal candidate will have prior experience in all phases of sheetmetal fabrication and assembly, with the ability to read and interpret design drawings, specifications, and diagrams.

Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum four years of documented experience in all phases of sheetmetal fabrication and assembly

A valid driver's license issued in the United States is also required. The successful candidate must be willing and able to deploy to Antarctica for extended periods and pass medical and dental examinations required by the NSF.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association License, or equivalent
  • Experience in a commercial or industrial environment
