System Engineer Job Description
Key Responsibilities:

We are seeking a highly skilled System Engineer to manage and monitor our installed systems and IT infrastructure. The ideal candidate will ensure that all systems are aligned with our standard operating procedures (SOP) and provide technical directions for the team.

The System Engineer will be responsible for defining customer needs and functionalities, coordinating system-related activities, and evaluating implementation designs. Key responsibilities include installing, configuring, and testing operating systems, application software, and system management tools.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for providing Level 1 and 2 support, ensuring operational systems meet contractual Service Level Agreement (SLA), and performing routine preventive maintenance and operational activities promptly and effectively.

Additionally, the System Engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure high-quality deliverables within guidelines, policies, and procedures. This includes anticipating, troubleshooting, and rectifying systems-related issues, as well as maintaining security, including backup and redundancy strategies.

Requirements:

BS/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related subject is required. At least more than two years of experience in System administration, including installing, configuring, and troubleshooting UNIX/Linux-based or Windows Server environments, is necessary.

Experience with virtualization and containerization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), network devices (e.g., firewall, switch), and networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP) is highly desirable. Additionally, experience with monitoring systems and shell/bash scripting for task automation, as well as solid experience in the administration and performance tuning of application stacks, is an added advantage.

The ideal candidate must be proactive, resourceful, willing to learn, and able to work independently as well as in a team.
