Job Description:

  • We are looking for a talented mechanical engineer with a passion for sustainability and data center design.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing and maintaining complex systems for data centers.
  • This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that meet the company's goals and objectives.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for performing technical design reviews, proposal development, and site inspections to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • You will work closely with internal stakeholders, including operation teams, to identify and resolve issues related to electrical system operations.
  • The role requires excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as part of a team.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop mechanical electrical systems for new and existing data centers, including but not limited to ACMV systems, hydraulic systems, thermodynamics refrigeration cycles, fire protection systems, plumbing & sanitary systems, etc.
  • Perform various engineering calculations (i.e., cooling load calculation, hydraulic calculation), equipment sizing (i.e., chiller, pump, cooling tower, air handler), selection, and procurement of equipment ensuring it meets safety standards and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with core teams to understand, develop, and update data centre mechanical designs from basis of design (BOD) to issue for construction (IFC) documents for new data centre project buildouts and major infrastructure upgrades.
  • Work with consultants during concept design, detailed design, procurement, bidding, SAT delivery, and installation on-site to perform as a mechanical engineer subject matter expert.
  • Identify and resolve issues raised by cross-functional teams, update and maintain internal design specifications, drawings, and standards in accordance with the latest configurations, and include all 'lessons learned' in relation to all equipment.
  • Liaise with internal business units and external customers for technical requirements to translate into executable plans for implementation by consultants and/or contractors.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in designing and maintaining mechanical systems for data centers or similar critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of large-scale mission-critical facility's Electrical infrastructure systems.
  • Experience with fast-track design/build projects and or multiple significant upgrade projects.
  • Fundamental knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer principles, fire protection, and plumbing and sanitary systems.
  • Ability to incorporate Renewable Energy Systems to the distribution network and strong understanding of Mechanical codes and standards.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
