Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a temporary replacement for instructional assistants during their absences. The selected individuals will be designated to cater to the requirements of the elementary education environment.
  • Facilitate interpretation services. A significant focus of this position will be to address the English-Chinese interpretation demands within the institution. Chosen candidates will be included in the school's roster of qualified interpreters and will be anticipated to:
    • Deliver interpretation and/or translation assistance as required.
    • Uphold the utmost confidentiality regarding any information exchanged during interactions with parents, students, and educators while providing interpretation or translation services.
    • Exhibit flexibility and readiness to collaborate with key stakeholders throughout the institution (including faculty, support personnel, school administration, parents, students, and safeguarding leaders).
  • Oversee playground activities as part of regular instructional assistant duties.
  • When not engaged in interpretation tasks, the majority of the permanent substitute's time will be dedicated to classroom substitution. Permanent substitutes are also expected to be flexible and willing to assist with additional tasks or responsibilities as necessary.
  • This is a full-time substitute position that requires presence on campus during all school operational days and a commitment to a one-year agreement.

Required Qualifications:

  • GCE 'O' Level Certification (minimum of 5 'O' levels with at least a credit in English).
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills in both English and Mandarin Chinese. The ideal candidate must be capable of conversing, reading, and writing in both languages.
  • Comfortable working in environments that necessitate adaptability while collaborating with a diverse group of colleagues.
  • A positive attitude towards work and initiative, with the ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong proficiency and experience with relevant technology applications, such as Google Suite, Word, and PowerPoint, along with a willingness to learn new tools.
