Job Summary
The Earth Observatory of Singapore at Nanyang Technological University seeks a highly skilled Research Fellow to lead the integration of geological and geophysical observations, combining space geodesy and dense-array seismology to advance our understanding of fundamental earthquake physics.

This is a 3-year project aimed at providing a holistic understanding of the fundamental physics of earthquakes by integrating geodesy and dense array data. The geodesy component focuses on data acquisition and processing to produce high-resolution deformation maps and determine fault geometry. The geophysics component emphasizes rupture imaging for target earthquakes and interpreting results to uncover key physical processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Acquire and process multi-source seismic and geodetic data for earthquake events.
  • Conduct forward modeling and inversion using geodetic and seismic observations.
  • Integrate datasets (3D surface deformation, geodetic fault geometry, back-projection rupture speeds) to constrain finite fault models capturing complex rupture processes.
  • Compare rupture models with lab-based rock failure experiments and numerical simulations to refine understanding of fundamental earthquake physics.
  • Publish peer-reviewed scientific papers annually.
  • Present research findings at international conferences each year.
  • Provide co-mentorship for a PhD student and a Research Assistant.
  • Collaborate with staff and students, Project PIs, and multiple international faculty as part of the project.
