Research and Development Manager


Job Description:

The role of the Research and Development Manager is to lead the development of research initiatives in the maritime industry, working closely with academia and industry partners. The successful candidate will have a strong background in science and engineering, with experience in R&D strategy formulation, technology foresighting, and grant governance.

The key responsibilities include mapping out the latest developments in science and technologies relevant to the maritime domain, identifying new emerging areas for Singapore's maritime strategic interests, and developing strategies for the translation, deployment, commercialisation, and internationalisation of maritime R&D.

The Research and Development Manager will also plan and implement R&D programs and initiatives, evaluate R&D proposals submitted or led by IHLs/RIs, oversee and manage performances of maritime Centres of Excellence and Programme Partners, and manage awarded projects and budgets.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should have a background in science and engineering fields with 3 years of relevant working experience. They should also have experience in R&D strategy formulation, technology fore-sighting/road mapping, technology translation, and/or good working knowledge of the R&D landscape in Singapore.

A strong interest in applied science and technology R&D and research community engagement is essential. Proficient in Microsoft Office and grant management software (e.g. Oracle Netsuite) is also required.
