Job Title: Advanced Firewall Engineer

Job Description

As a senior-level firewall engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing robust firewall infrastructure to ensure the stability and security of our global network. Your primary focus will be on managing firewall vendors, architecting firewall solutions, and operating firewall infrastructure to provide a stable production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist Level 2/3 Support Engineers during problem determination and resolution as an escalation point for all firewall issues
  • Evaluate and define global standards for firewall hardware and software versions to standardize global infrastructure
  • Manage firewall vendors to design, architect, and operate firewall infrastructure for a stable production environment
  • Coordinate with information security governance teams to align IT infrastructure with established standards
  • Ensure system compliance with all established information security policies
  • Perform technical assessments of non-standard or complex firewall change requests prior to implementation
  • Create firewall reporting using Algosec in regular intervals to clean up unused objects
  • Regularly review, edit, and create firewall rulebases and recommend necessary optimization actions
  • Plan and recommend overall improvements in firewall management, including capacity planning to avoid potential issues
  • Advanced troubleshooting of production problems with RCA and fault diagnosis
  • Implement changes to firewall infrastructure hardware to enhance functionality
  • Develop processes for improving operational efficiencies and identify/implement automation tools for existing manual processes
  • Prepare technical dashboards, reports, and instructional manuals as documentation of firewall design and operational requirements
Requirements

Minimum 5 years of experience in firewall operations and/or management roles, with hands-on experience in managing firewall infrastructure in critical banking environments.

Strong understanding of Checkpoint Firewalls, Palo Alto, and FortiGate firewalls technologies is required. Knowledge of L3 routing on firewalls, such as OSPF and BGP, is preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team player.
