Cloud Application Engineer Role

The role of Cloud Application Engineer is critical to the success of our business. As a key member of the engineering team, you will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing robust cloud application solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients in the Learning Domain.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, develop and implement scalable and secure cloud applications using various technologies relevant to our organization.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to drive cloud adoption and ensure seamless integration of applications.
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, analyze data and identify root causes.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences, including explaining technical concepts clearly.
  • Lead and mentor a team of application support specialists, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

Technical Expertise:

Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, application architecture and various technologies relevant to our organization.

Certification in AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform.

Java Technology Stack Experience Required (ie. Springboot, Apache Tomcat).

MySQL, Postgres, Microsoft SQL Database.

Microsoft Windows, Linux Operating systems.



Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills:

Ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues, analyze data and identify root causes.



Leadership & Team Management:

Ability to lead, motivate and mentor a team, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.



Business Acumen:

Understanding of the organization's business objectives and how applications support those objectives.



ITIL/ITSM Knowledge:

Familiarity with ITIL or other IT Service Management frameworks for application support and maintenance.



Education and Certification:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.

Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Developer - Associate, Azure Developer Associate, or Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Developer.



Desirable Qualities:

Experience with DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes).
Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum framework.
Experience with project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
