Job Description

As Editor/Senior Editor, you will be responsible for making key coverage decisions, managing live and breaking news, and ensuring journalistic accuracy and quality. You will oversee the appropriate coverage of key news developments locally and internationally through various media formats.

  • Lead and shape the daily operations of the digital news desk, including coverage decisions, managing live and breaking news, and ensuring journalistic accuracy and quality.
  • Identify key news developments locally and internationally, and oversee their appropriate coverage through various media formats.
  • Manage live blogging for breaking news and major events, coordinating updates and multimedia elements.
  • Assign stories to journalists, providing editorial guidance and coordinating with multimedia teams for integrated storytelling.
  • Develop additional content such as explainers, listicles, sidebars, and videos for top stories.
  • Edit stories to meet high editorial and language standards, aligned with our style guide.
  • Collaborate with other editors to ensure accurate, contextual, timely, and audience-focused coverage.
  • Monitor article performance on digital platforms and social media, making adjustments to maximize reach and impact.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Minimum 5 years of editorial experience, preferably across digital, TV, or print newsrooms.
  • Deep understanding of content adaptation for various news platforms and social media.
  • Self-motivation with the ability to lead and achieve team goals.
  • Extensive knowledge of Singaporean and regional news.
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays.
