Job Title: Vessel Operations Manager

Description:

Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of vessels is a key responsibility for this role. Effective management of daily activities, coordination with stakeholders, and attention to detail are essential in achieving this goal.

  • Monitoring vessel operations, including cargo loading and discharge, bunkering, and maintenance, is critical to maintaining vessel efficiency and safety.
  • Coordinating with charterers and agents to arrange vessel arrivals and departures, as well as berthing and un-berthing procedures, requires strong organizational skills and effective communication.
  • Providing critical information to the master regarding cargo, ports, routes, and other relevant factors is vital to ensuring smooth vessel operations.
  • Appointing and managing agents and protective agents when necessary, reviewing estimates and approving final Port Dues Accounts, requires sound judgment and financial acumen.
  • Assisting the master in preparing on-hire and off-hire documentation ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and maintains accurate records.
  • Monitoring vessel fuel and water consumption, arranging supplies as needed, helps to optimize vessel performance and minimize costs.
  • Communicating vital information to chartering managers, including vessel berthing, cargo operation, departure details, and bunker quantities, ensures seamless vessel movements.
  • Tracking charterers' redelivery notices and notifying next charterers of delivery requirements is crucial to maintaining timely vessel deliveries.
  • Coordinating joint off/on-hire surveys with present and next charterers requires strong interpersonal skills and effective collaboration.
  • Interacting with insurance companies and PNI Club for insurance and claims issues demands attention to detail and effective problem-solving.
  • Settling C/P disputes, including underperformance and other claims, requires strong analytical skills and effective negotiation.
  • Arranging pre-loading surveys for steel cargo and high-value commodities through PNI Club coordination helps to ensure safe and secure vessel operations.
  • Coordinating vessel transit HRAs, including armed guards and insurance arrangements, is essential to maintaining vessel security and compliance.
  • Preparing hire/freight invoices, monitoring payments, and settling outstanding balances ensures prompt and accurate financial transactions.
  • CALCULATING LAYTIME, SETTLING DEMURRAGE, AND DISPATCHING VESSELS REQUIRES SOUND JUDGMENT AND FINANCIAL ACUMEN.
