Visual Storytelling Specialist

As a key member of our newsroom team, you will play a crucial role in crafting engaging visual stories that captivate audiences and convey complex information in an intuitive and compelling manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create stunning visualizations that bring data to life, using a variety of formats and tools to tell impactful stories.
  • Collaborate with journalists and developers to design and build interactive graphics, infographics, and other visual content.
  • Conduct investigative research using data, identifying and verifying sources to ensure accuracy and credibility.
  • Manage workflows and processes for data-driven and visual storytelling projects.
  • Analyze story performance using analytics, making recommendations for improvement and optimization.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, graphic design, data science, statistics, or computer science.
  • Experience in journalism and reporting, including internships.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and one frontend framework (React, VueJS, Svelte).
  • Experience building interactive graphics using libraries like D3.js and Mapbox.
  • Knowledge of SQL, scripting languages (R, Python, Perl), and databases.
  • Familiarity with digital storytelling, data journalism, and visual trends.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
