The role of a Risk Manager in Private Banking involves ensuring the business adheres to regulatory requirements, internal policies, and industry standards. This includes reviewing, updating, and maintaining internal policies, procedures, and contracts to guarantee alignment with evolving regulations and best practices.
This entails developing and maintaining a comprehensive risk management framework, which includes identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the business through activities such as sample testing, internal reviews, training sessions, and regular monitoring.
A key aspect of this role is evaluating exceptions to standard operations to ensure they align with internal risk guidelines. The Risk Manager will work closely with both internal and external auditors, as well as stay engaged with regulatory bodies on issues that impact the business.
As part of the job, you will escalate any potential risks or concerns promptly to management and support various remediation efforts by interpreting and applying internal policies and external regulations effectively.
Additionally, you will assist in preparing materials for governance meetings and contribute to discussions. Beyond core responsibilities, you will participate in process improvement initiatives and offer administrative and operational support to the Chief Operating Officer in the region.
Required Skills and Qualifications
For this role, we are seeking an individual with at least five years of experience in Wealth Management or Private Banking, along with a solid understanding of related products, services, and regulatory environments.
A degree in Finance, Business, or a related field is required. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure, and comfortable working with senior stakeholders.
Strong communication skills are essential—both written and verbal—with fluency in Mandarin being a key requirement. You'll need sharp analytical and problem-solving abilities, close attention to detail, and a strategic mindset.
We're looking for a team player with a proactive, can-do attitude, and a high level of ownership and accountability. Experience with Avaloq and certifications in risk management will be considered advantages. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint is also expected.
