Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Operation Technician to join our team at Greenlane Private Ltd. as a Data Center Operations Specialist. This is a 12/24-month renewable contract opportunity.


About the Role:

This role involves providing top-notch hardware support, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for our data center infrastructure. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data center facilities, including hardware installations, move, add, and change activities, as well as decommissioning of IT equipment.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Hardware Support: Installations, move, add, and change activities for data center hardware.
  • Equipment Decommissioning: Responsible for safely disposing of IT equipment, including networks, servers, storage, and backup devices.
  • Media Management: Destruction and disposal of HDD/SSD media, ensuring secure data erasure.
  • Cabling and Patching: Connect and disconnect patch cables to equipment in the data center, ensuring efficient cabling management.
  • Server Hardware Break Fix Support: Installation of parts, reseating modules, and replacing SFP modules, including HDD, memory, and mainboard components.
  • Routine Inspections: Conduct regular physical and visual inspections of equipment and data center operations facilities to ensure optimal performance.
  • Maintenance Support: Provide on-site support during scheduled maintenance and change events, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues related to IT and network equipment, minimizing downtime and improving overall system reliability.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the inventory of RMA, cold spares, equipment, and tools, ensuring accurate tracking and timely replenishment.
  • Vendor Management: Coordinate with vendors, escort/supervise their personnel, and ensure seamless interactions with internal teams.
  • DC Access Request Management: Manage access requests for data center facilities, adhering to established protocols and procedures.
  • POP Site Operations: Provide support for POP site operations, including standby duties when required.
  • Reporting and Continuous Improvement: Submit regular progress reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and areas for improvement, driving continuous development and process enhancements.

Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you must have:

  • A minimum of 1 year's experience working in data center operations, or fresh graduates with relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Excellent understanding of structured cabling and patching principles.
  • Proven experience in hardware support, break fix, and troubleshooting, with a strong ability to respond to issues and provide timely updates.
  • Experience working in large-scale critical environments is highly desirable.

  • Rack, space, power, and cooling allocations for new installations or relocation requests.
  • Capacity management expertise, including space, power, cooling, and patch panel port availability.
  • In-depth understanding of incident and change management processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data center space, power, and cooling management.
  • Relevant certifications, such as CDCP, ITIL, Server+, Linux+, Network+, A+, CCNA.
