Job Title: Kitchen Assistant

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Kitchen Assistant to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of our kitchen labs, assisting with food preparation, and supporting the Nutrition and Food Science (NFS) unit.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the cleanliness of Craft & Technology special rooms i.e. D&T workshops, Design & Art studios and Kitchen Labs
  • Conduct scheduled thorough cleaning and organisation of Craft & Technology special rooms i.e. D&T workshops, Design & Art studios, and Kitchen Labs termly
  • Assist the NFS unit with daily preparation tasks to ensure smooth delivery of lessons
  • Work with NFS teachers to prepare the required portions of food ingredients and necessary crockery/equipment needed to carry out practical/investigative sessions
  • Monitor stock of food ingredients and alert the NFS teachers to potential shortages
  • Maintain a high level of hygiene standards in the kitchen labs and during food preparation
  • Support the Staff Engagement Committee in the preparation of light meals, light desserts, snacks, and packing of staff welfare items
  • Maintain inventory of food ingredients and ensure they are organised and properly stored
  • Ensure the overall cleaning of the sinks/stoves and overall cleaning and disinfecting of the kitchen labs at the end of the last lesson daily
  • Ensure safety compliance within the Kitchen labs and the operating of basic kitchen equipment at all times
Requirements:
  • Completed the Food Safety Course Level 1
  • Able to cook light meals, light desserts and snacks
  • Able to read and converse in English
  • Good interpersonal skill
  • Pleasant disposition
  • Experience working with secondary school students
  • Experience working as a kitchen assistant in a school environment is preferred
