Piano Instructor Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Piano Instructor to join our team at the Methodist School of Music (MSM). As a Piano Instructor, you will be responsible for teaching piano lessons to students of various ages and skill levels.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach piano lessons to individuals or groups, covering topics such as piano pieces, scales, music theory, sight-reading, and aural skills.
  • Prepare students for ABRSM exams by reviewing and helping them prepare for the exams.
  • Plan and deliver teaching curriculum for group lessons, including children and adults.
  • Provide piano accompaniment for MSM vocal and violin students taking ABRSM examinations, as well as for school performances and events.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including taking minutes during staff meetings, managing the MSM General Music YouTube Channel, and organizing teacher development workshops.
  • Take videos and upload them for online exams.
  • Perform library duties, including labeling, rearranging, and mending library books.
Requirements:
  • Minimum degree in Music from an established institution or university with at least 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • Experience in teaching and pedagogical experience, including curriculum development, lesson planning, and delivery.
  • Strong spoken and written communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Good project management and problem-solving skills to analyze issues and recommend solutions.
  • Able to work well independently and under tight timelines.
  • Proficient in MS Office Application (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher).
