About this Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Legal Counsel to join our team. The successful candidate will provide relevant advisory on a wide range of topics, including contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. They will work closely with our Head of Legal and other stakeholders to build and grow our global legal practice, which spans across Europe, MENA, SEA, North Asia, and ANZ.

The ideal candidate will have at least 4-8 years of post-qualification experience in the tech industry, preferably in a corporate or regulatory role. They will have excellent interpersonal skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to navigate complex legal issues in a fast-paced environment. They will also be qualified to practice law in at least one APAC country and have the tenacity to learn new areas of law.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Work with the Head of Legal to build and grow a global legal practice across multiple jurisdictions
  2. Act as the first point of contact for any legal-related issues
  3. Draft and review complex legal documentation, including contracts and agreements
  4. Liaise with external law firms to access geography or subject matter expertise
  5. Lead M&A, investments, and related work from a legal standpoint
  6. Provide regulatory and legal advice on a broad range of statutory, cross-border, business development, and people-related issues
  7. Deliver sound and clear practical advice that enables business partners and stakeholders to achieve their objectives while mitigating legal risk
  8. Proactively work to draft, review, and revise internal policies and workflows to ensure consistency with guidelines
  9. Advising on market entry into local markets, including setting up legal entities and managing license applications
  10. Advising on legal and regulatory risk associated with sales, marketing, public relations, and product development
  11. Working with external counsel and managing internal clients on dispute-related work

Requirements

  1. Passion for technology businesses and the latest developments in the space, either from an in-house or law firm background
  2. At least 4-8 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the tech industry or with relevant corporate, M&A, and financial services experience
  3. Knowledge and understanding of law and regulations applicable to the TMT space would be a bonus
  4. Experience handling complex transactional work and contract negotiations
  5. Demonstrated expertise and experience in navigating and excelling in highly ambiguous environments
  6. Willingness and flexibility to work with all levels of the organization, and to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
  7. Qualified to practice law in at least one APAC country with the tenacity to learn new areas of law
  8. Prior experience in building up an in-house legal team from scratch will be preferred but not essential
  9. Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork and ability to foster and manage relationships across multiple departments
