Job Title: Medical Laboratory Technologist
">Job SummaryThis position requires a highly skilled and detail-oriented professional to perform routine histological tests in the Department of Pathology. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in biological sciences and excellent laboratory skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform reception of laboratory specimens, assign charge codes, and reject unacceptable specimens according to rejection criteria.
- Assist pathologists during trimming and evaluation of specimens.
- Perform various technical functions including processing, embedding, microtomy, routine and complex staining, mounting, and labeling of prepared slides and block check.
- Gross simple and uncomplicated specimens.
- Perform frozen cryo-sectioning.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and perform simple troubleshooting in the event of malfunction.
- Provide technical guidance to laboratory personnel and conduct training for new personnel in laboratory procedures.
- Prepare and maintain all necessary reagents and stains according to proper specifications.
- Promptly carry out instructions of senior staff regarding work procedures and duties.
- Participate in in-house continuing education classes.
Requirements
- Degree in Biological/Life Sciences/Biomedical Science or equivalent preferred.
- Relevant experience in a Histology laboratory preferred.
- Initiative and ability to function effectively as a member of a team.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of multi-tasking and effective time management.
