Workplace Safety and Health Lead

We are seeking an experienced professional to oversee the development and implementation of effective safety management systems.

  • Develop comprehensive safety management systems, including site inspections and risk assessments.
  • Implement electronic Permit to Work (ePTW) systems as required by clients.
  • Design and implement Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) programs for new workers.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering or a related field, a WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health or higher, and registration as a Registered Workplace Safety & Health Officer with at least 10 years post-registration experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend SHE coordination meetings, plan work sequences, identify incompatible works and risks/hazards, and develop site maps for delivery and storage improvements.
  • Handle near-miss, accident, and incident reporting, proposing remedial measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare, maintain, and manage Project Safety, Health, and Environment Systems (SHEMs), including monthly SHE reports.
  • Conduct safety audits and propose remedial measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Establish in-house rules and regulations, determining Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) needs.
  • Develop and implement annual SHE promotion programs.
  • Audit and assess SHE risks and maintenance regimes for equipment and tools.
  • Manage hazardous substances and chemicals, assessing Safety Data Sheets (SDS) where applicable.
  • Plan and manage monthly Environmental, Safety, and Security (ESS) assessments.
  • Supervise Workplace Safety and Health Officers or Coordinators reporting to project leads.
  • Identify safety-critical activities, ensure proper method statements and risk assessments are accepted by client engineers prior to work commencement.
  • Conduct internal safety training for staff/partners, external WSH-related training as required by clients, and prepare safety briefing/training material.
  • Perform SHE audits as required by contracts.
