Key Responsibilities
  • Unix Systems Administration
    • Administer and troubleshoot Unix servers, including Solaris and Linux systems.
    • Install Unix servers from scratch and perform administrative tasks related to Unix server installations and decommissioning.
    • Manage high availability clustering environments and ensure all Unix/Linux operating systems are patched to the latest appropriate releases.
  • Performance Monitoring and Troubleshooting
    • Monitor and analyze system performance, including CPU, memory, network, and disk usage.
    • Detect, diagnose, and resolve Unix/Linux server-related hardware and OS problems.
  • Security and Compliance
    • Implement and maintain security measures to protect Unix systems and data.
    • Ensure compliance with IT security policies and procedures.
  • Documentation and Collaboration
    • Establish and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of Unix systems and processes.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and support of Unix systems.
Requirements
  • Technical Skills
    • Extensive experience with Unix systems administration, including Solaris and Linux.
    • Strong knowledge of system security, including access control and authentication.
    • Experience with automation/configuration management tools, such as Puppet.
    • Working knowledge of SAN environments and storage configurations.
  • Soft Skills
    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications
    • Solaris and Linux certifications.
  • Experience
    • Experience with Sun hardware, Solaris Zones, Ldoms, and upgrade/migration tasks.
    • Experience with file system management and troubleshooting.
