Eye Care Specialist: A Key Role in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

  • This role plays a vital part in supporting the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, including performing various tests and assessments.
  • Maintaining equipment is also a crucial aspect of this position.
  • Participating in departmental activities ensures the smooth running of the department.
  • The Eye Care Specialist attends continuing education sessions to maintain competency.
  • A safe and clean environment and equipment are maintained by the specialist.
  • Other duties may be assigned by Nursing Officers and/or Senior Staff Nurse, Senior Optometrist, Optometrists, and Ophthalmologists.
  • Eyecare screenings are conducted in hospitals and communities.
  • Research data collection and statistics compilation are essential responsibilities.
  • The specialist must be proactive and engaged in all Yishun Health activities.
  • Supporting research conducted by Ophthalmologists and/or Optometrists is another key responsibility.
  • The investigation rooms are maintained according to 5S housekeeping standards.
  • Assistance with evaluating, planning, and developing new diagnostic services and equipment is provided.
  • Continuous improvement is emphasized by refining work performance daily.

Requirements:

  • A minimum Nitec Level or equivalent qualification is required.
  • Possession of relevant Ophthalmic courses (highly preferred).
  • The ability to handle visual assessment equipment is necessary.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • A pleasant appearance with acceptable grooming standards is expected.
  • A keen learner attitude and good attitude towards learning and correction are required.
