Horse Handler Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our equine therapy program as a Horse Handler and Therapy Assistant.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Safely handle and care for horses, ensuring their well-being and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Assist in preparing horses for therapy sessions, including grooming, tacking, and leading.
  • Work collaboratively with our therapy team to facilitate equine-assisted therapy sessions for clients.
  • Support clients during therapy sessions, providing guidance, encouragement, and ensuring their safety.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, clients, and their families, fostering a positive and supportive environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with horses is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of equine care, handling, and grooming techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team setting and under outdoor conditions, including hot weather.
  • Comfortable working with special needs individuals, including children and elderly clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Reliable, responsible, and able to follow instructions accurately.
  • Physical fitness and ability to perform tasks that involve lifting, bending, and walking for extended periods.

  • Training in equine-assisted therapy techniques will be provided.
