About the Role

Lloyd's Register is seeking a skilled Ship Structure Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for conducting design appraisals of ship structures, including new builds, conversions, and existing vessels. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring compliance with LR Rules and international standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct design appraisals of hull structural plans for new builds, design appraisal new build project management, ships in service modifications, retrofits, conversions, and marine equipment & component (MEC) structures.
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to LR field surveyors and clients on matters related to Lloyd's Register Rules, national or international standards, and flag requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct technical discussions and provide advice to internal and external clients.
  • Present deliverables to internal and external clients and suggest solutions as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor or master's degree in Naval Architecture, Ship Design/Shipbuilding, or equivalent, and/or Chartered/Professional qualification and a member of a relevant professional institution.
  • Relevant experience in ship structures basic design/plan appraisal, with some practical experience and experience in project management.
  • Thorough knowledge of design principles/structural idealization/loadings of ship structures and governing Class rule requirements.
  • Experience in structural analysis (FEA) of ship structures and working knowledge of any prominently used FE software.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, prioritize work, and meet LR and clients' deadlines, and work effectively under pressure.
  • Good skills to conduct technical conversations with clients and maintain good relationships with clients with a client-focused mindset.
  • Proficiency in the English Language commensurate with the work and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.
