Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Strategic Communications Specialist to lead our communications efforts and amplify our mission.

This role will focus on developing and implementing strategic communication plans, creating compelling content, and managing a team of volunteer writers.

The successful candidate will have excellent written and spoken English skills, as well as experience in communications or journalism. They will be passionate about strategic communications, cause marketing, new media, and content creation.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic communication plans to promote our services and initiatives through compelling narratives and messaging tailored for diverse stakeholders.
  • Write impactful authentic stories that showcase the impact of our programmes.
  • Provide copywriting, design counsel, and advisory support to requesting departments and team members on a range of collaterals for online and offline channels.
  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteer writers, guiding them in best practices for storytelling, interview techniques, and content development.
  • Maintain and enforce brand integrity by ensuring compliance with emblem protection standards, adhering to established SOPs, and managing proper usage of branding elements.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mass Communications/Marketing/Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Communications or Journalism.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and a 2nd language (Mandarin, Malay, or Tamil) to effectively communicate with Mandarin/Malay/Tamil clients.
  • Good grasp of written, editorial, and oral communications.
Desired Skills
  • Passionate about strategic communications, cause marketing, new media, and content creation.
  • Relevant experience in NGO, NPO, charities, or the social services sector is an added advantage.
  • Proficient in AI generative tools and applications to effectively contribute to projects and writings.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within the nonprofit, humanitarian, or social services sectors.
