Job Title:

Primary School Learning Support Specialist

We are seeking a qualified educator to join our dynamic support team as a Primary School Learning Support Specialist. This role involves fostering an inclusive environment that prioritizes student-centered and strength-based approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the support team to develop and implement individualized plans for students with learning differences.
  • Work closely with class teachers to provide differentiated instruction and assessments, and conduct parent meetings as needed.
  • Support leadership, teachers, and other school staff in identifying root causes of student learning challenges and developing strategies to meet their needs.
  • Provide coaching and training to staff on implementing in-class support plans and workshops.
  • Establish positive home-school communication with families and work collaboratively with the primary school team.
Requirements:
  • A recognized teaching qualification and a learning support teaching qualification or evidence of progress towards obtaining one.
  • Proven track record as a successful classroom teacher at the Primary School level.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Experience supporting students with academic, attentional, social communication, and other associated difficulties.
  • Flexible, proactive, and hands-on approach, with a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and ongoing pedagogical development.
Desirable Qualifications:
  • Expertise in academic or social-emotional and behavioral support.
  • Knowledge of international curricula, including delivery and assessment.
  • Experience teaching English Language Learners.
Working Conditions:

This is a contract position with an expected duration of two years. The successful candidate will be required to contribute to the five key elements of a UWC education: Academic, Personal & Social Education, Service, Activities, and Outdoor Education.
