HSE Advisor Job Description

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled HSE Advisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist HSE business support to minimize risks to colleagues and the business.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialist HSE business support to minimize risks to colleagues and the business.
  • Ensure hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation and controls are appropriate to the risk, achievable, and effectively implemented.
  • Use experience and knowledge to manage complex/demanding situations to eliminate harm.
  • Work with the HSE Business Partner to ensure the effective implementation of the Group HSE management system.
  • Support and advise on HSE hazard identification, risk assessment and subsequent mitigations and controls development.
  • Support HSE Business Partners in developing and implementing HSE processes and risk management frameworks.
  • Collaborate within the HSE Advisor community to ensure consistent safety standards and address local regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor activities and ensure they are carried out in line with internal procedures, regulations, industry standards or contractual requirements relating to HSE.
  • Pursue Continuous Professional Development and maintain a high degree of discipline knowledge and awareness.
  • Mentor/coach people leaders in operations to ensure best practice health, safety, and environmental leadership practices are observed.
  • Horizon scan both internal and external changes to ensure a proactive and agile approach to problem solving.
  • Implement HSE programmes and changes in accordance with local business requirements and agreed deadlines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and legislative requirements, LR HSE management system, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 are maintained.
  • Support the investigation of HSE events and make recommendations for corrective action.
Requirements:
  • Graduate in a numerical related discipline with sufficient practical 'hands-on' experience of leading safety, occupational health and environment.
  • Experience in HSE actively involved in a high-risk industry.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body such as IOSH, The American Society of Safety Engineers or the American Industrial Hygiene Association etc., working towards becoming a certified safety professional.
  • Able to work with ambiguity across diverse and ever-changing functions.
  • Fluent written and spoken English with ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to use own initiative and prioritise tasks while adhering to tight deadlines.
  • Able to work as part of a team to contribute to achieving departmental/business objectives.
  • Flexible and results-oriented approach to meet varying and competing business demands.
  • Adaptable and well organised with a practical minded approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills at all levels of the organisation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Classification Society experience preferred.
