Job Title: Senior Manager, Technology Development

Role Overview:

The Commercialisation of New Technologies team seeks a Senior Manager to focus on the commercialisation of new healthcare-related technologies. The successful candidate will work with the clinical research community to identify and commercialise intellectual property arising from diverse healthcare fields.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review invention disclosure submissions and liaise with the Intellectual Property office.
  • Engage with external parties to increase awareness of institutional capabilities, research areas, and opportunities for collaborations and research partnerships.
  • Speak at internal workshops related to intellectual property, innovation, translational development, and commercialisation.
  • Support the IP office to identify and engage with potential licensees of the institution's intellectual property portfolio.
  • Draft and review intellectual property and commercialisation strategies of translational funding grant applications.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in biotechnology, biomedical engineering or a relevant scientific/engineering field with at least eight years of relevant experience within the academic and/or industrial environment involving commercial partnerships; PhD in these fields preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively and assertively influence key stakeholders, and build and support business relationships and partnerships.
  • Track record of successfully negotiating commercial contracts with industry partners.
  • Ability to assimilate and grasp technical concepts and translate these into commercially viable proposals.
  • Confident self-starter with initiative and capable of working successfully within a team and with key stakeholders in the ecosystem.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, organisational and administrative skills.

About the Role:

The TD&C team is responsible for the commercialisation of new healthcare-related technologies developed under the Academic Medical Centre. The team works closely with the clinical research community to identify and commercialise intellectual property arising from diverse healthcare fields.
